Is it too late?

Is it too late to ask at least 2 of the 3 big automakers to make some bicycles? Or if not bikes, perhaps some railroad cars? There are already more automobiles in America than people. Even if they can produce 'green' cars, won't it be 'greener' not to throw away what we already have until its lifespan is over? My Suburu should still be running for years.
